Pink Lemonade

Pink Lemonade’ offers four season interest.  In spring the shrub sports pinkish-white showy bell-shaped flowers.  The fruits are pale greenish at first, then dappled pink, and finally develop a deep pink color indicating a ripened fruit. The leaves are smooth, glossy green, lanceolate, with serrated leaf margins. In fall, the leaves turn a bright orange fading to deep red.  Wintertime twigs are dusky reddish-brown.  Any unharvested fruit supplies sustaining food to songbirds and wildlife.

The shrub is vigorous, reaching four to five feet in height and width. Fruit ripening occurs mid-late to late season with moderate yields of medium-sized, glossy, bright pink fruit. The flavor is said to be mild with good fruit firmness.

North Country
Zone 3  Midseason. Semi-dwarf. Prolific producer of medium-size, sweet, mild fruit. Ripens one week before 'Northblue'. Dark green summer foliage. Fiery-red fall color. Best choice for the landscape. 2' x 3' 'Northcountry', has an attractive, sky blue colored fruit that is produced abundantly on this low, spreading shrub. It has a sweet wild blueberry flavor, and this fruit is small to medium 1/4" in diameter. One of the earliest producing blueberry cultivars, it displays a profusion of dainty white tinged pink bell-shaped flowers in spring. It is a vigorous growing cultivar reaching bearing age in 2 years, and the fruits ripen in July. Northcountry has bright red fall colors.
